Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
